Life in my second home here
The initial weeks in UK were almost for getting hold of the place, work and life here. In the first week itself I had to make an accommodation shifting from Milton Keynes to Bedford, most of the days traveling between the places. Weekend in London and then slowly to traveling too. Cambridge was one of the first places we traveled here. The advantage was hat it is just an hour in Bus and the X5 which connects the counties is there in every 30 mins from the Bedford bus station. Nasweeph aka Kambli was in preparation to come over here and I was aware of it. But had no information when and all he we will arrive. Later sometime, after Ramzan and Eid, got to know that he has reached Cambridge and is with another friend from Collage Sulfi, who was here sometime back itself, which I was not aware about.
May be after two or three week after he came over I went to Cambridge on a Friday eve planning for a weekend there. All my weekends use to be engaged on something or the other especially on travel with Abi, Sunil and Rahul. This time we had the gap and I could plan the weekend in Cambridge. On my first visit itself I had felt the air of books and studies at the place and had thought about coming back sometime later and spend more time in the banks of Cam and all. Kind of feeling that me too is a Student. Meeting Kambli, Sulfi and Askar on that cold evening and in the bus to the place they lived, I never knew this place is going to be my second home here. The weekend was good; I was fascinated by the cooking skills of Sulfi and Askar which gave me an intense hope of good food availability here in a nearer reach and that was such a good relief.
The internet connection was not there at time so obviously the times spend was more on talks and talk. Topics varied from collage days, moral issues etc, but always use to be a long one. Sitting around the dining table may be after having food, with a big cup of cardamom black tea (favorite for all of us). I should say ‘it was nice’. Further to that many times I went there and was kind of a routine in alternate weekends generally. My friends use to ask which course you are doing there? :-), like that. Later sometime there was a shift in accommodation to a nearby location with a lot of planning and drama alongside (“memories”:-)). The new place with more new people like Mannu, Gimmi and Lokesh joining the band added to what ever we had before. Good talks, good food, nice biriyaani, loads of Pizza, shopping, cam river walks, cricket and many more the times being there always had its own style, sometimes a major relief from being alone here as well. I am sure there is many more to come.
Recent stories are on Gossips around Kambz, Kalyanalochana (marriage proposal) for Asku, New jobs for Kambz and Gimmi, Mannu planning to go out of Cambridge borders for the first time (since a year and more :-)), Sulfi back home on long vacation – car hitting a poor two wheeler traveller on the roads and me going at times and bugging all the above mentioned and returning back with pizza’s for a week and so on.
Praying for the best.
